Events:
EPICS draws its strength to support its initiatives through upon regular contributions, both monetary and in volunteering time, from individuals and corporates to fund its activities. There a many ways to help - run a Marathon for us, climb a mountain for us, help make EPICS the preferred charity in your organization, or simply spend time with the children in our programs.

EPICS members and volunteers have climbed mountains, run marathons and cycled miles in different cities in Asia Pacific to raise funds for the education of the needy children and we have done this is a way that celebrates the human spirit of en-durance and team work.

Should you along with your group of friends be interested to participate in any of the upcoming marathons, mountaineering and skydiving events and raise funds for EPICS, please contact Ankit Mandhania @ ankit.mandhania@gmail.com or reemaagarwal1982@gmail.com.

- Marathons
EPICS encourages volunteers to participate in running, cycling marathons and trialthons in cities around the world to raise funds. The funds will be channeled to one of the Social Enterprises and NGOs we support.
EPICS lets the athletes do what they can do best and we take care of all the logistics in terms of:
  • Online marketing of the event including web and video designing
  • Offline marketing like preparing posters
  • International fund collection
  • Seeking matched funding from corporates
  • Issuing country specific tax exemption receipts
  • Forex conversion from donor currencies to recipient currency
  • Transferring donations to the EPICS partner organisations
  • Monitoring the use of the funds on a regular basis

EPICS will hold pre- and post-marathon events to allow the volunteers to network and mingle with fellow volunteers and members of EPICS. Post event, the participants will be presented with a memento and will be kept informed of the use of the funds they have raised.

EPICS invites its volunteers to visit and interact with its chosen partner social enterprises and NGOs whom we have been able to support with the volunteers’ help and passionate commitment.

- Mountaineering
We are making this a yearly event to be held in the first quarter on each year.

The Endeavour - Sharing our experience of the climb in Feb 2010 and its purpose below.

A friend of ours asked us “What’s the big deal about your climb to Mount Kinabalu? It’s just a 4.1kms walk”. Well he is almost right, but…

Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on earth (2,720 feet) with 160 floors is just 1/5th the height of Mount Kinabalu, a mountain situated on the island of Borneo in East Malaysia. The thought of walking up this building excites you, doesn’t it? Now imagine climbing 800 floors (5 times the height of Burj Khalifa) in extremely cold conditions and thin air in less than 24 hours! Unfortunately, none of us are Spider-men. Did I forget to mention, we needed to carry all our supplies during the climb!

The Purpose - Knowledge is power, indeed!

Most of us have grown up listening to stories of our parents studying under dripping ceilings, walking miles to reach school and burning the midnight oil (quite literally) to read from old torn books. We, like most of you, do not have that dramatic a story. Education came easy - opportunities were abundant, schools and universities were in plenty, accessibility was never an issue, books were at our disposal, midnight oil was replaced by tube light :)

As we climb Mount Kinabalu facing perils galore, we want you to be reminded that there are millions of poor children in India who will never be able to grow to their full potential not because they lack the attitude or the aptitude, but because they lack that one opportunity to take a good shot at education.

The Support - Giving back!

The best way to make a climb worthwhile is to give a firm helping hand to help others below you climb up to where you stand; quite literally for us but differently for you. A small support from you for our climb would help educate poor girl children in rural India and pull them to where you stand, up and away from the clutches of illiteracy. Will you join hands with us to make a difference?

- Sky Jump
EPICS has partnered with Thai Sky Adventures Co., Ltd to manage the end to end ground logistics management in Pattaya, Thailand at a subsidized cost. They also have agreed to let us use their infrastructure in the UK and at the Mt. Everest Summit.
